Hear the words of Baroness Furia and Baron Conrad of Dragon’s Laire:
In the tradition of community coming together when the harvest is small, Harvest Feast is now FREE (event and feast)! Please PRE-REGISTER by 11:59 PM Friday, October 3, if you haven’t yet, so we can ensure there’s enough food. (Just put “paying cash” on the form. You won’t be charged.)
If you have already paid, there are options: You can either consider it a donation to the barony (thank you!) OR fill out this form for a refund. Our deepest gratitude to our Seneschal, Exchequer, Event Steward, Feast Steward, and Event Team for making an event that can be a safe community haven in turbulent times.
Yours in Service, Furia and Conrad, Coronets of Dragon’s Laire
Pre-registration is REQUIRED for the feast and recommended for the event, as the hall is limited to 200 people. We can accommodate a limited number of people eating off-board — make prior arrangements with the Event or Feast Steward, dragonslaire.eventsteward@antir.org.
Volunteers Needed
Many hands make light work — and this is never more true than at an event. There are many opportunities that just take an hour or two of your time! It’s a great way to meet fellow populace members and to “break the ice” if you’re new.
We have MANY opportunities to volunteer, starting Friday night with food prep and setting up / decorating the hall, during the event itself (parking coordinator, servers during the feast, etc.), or putting away tables and chairs after the event on Saturday night.

Activities Throughout the Day
All-Day-Long Feast
Yes! You heard us right. We are planning a uniquely different Feast style…it’s an all day Feast with four small meals throughout the day. The meals focus on “New World” foods from four different cultural groups. For this event, we are supplying dishes and cutlery, so you need only bring a drinking mug.
Tentative menu, subject to change based on ingredient availability.
Salish: Smoked salmon, wild rice & berry dish, hazelnuts, blackberries
Hopi: Three Sisters stew with various pepper sauces on the side, corn tortillas, and roasted squash seeds.
Mississippians (Moundbuilders)/5 tribes: roasted squash dish, bread, likely smoked turkey, and grape dumplings.
Mayan: Pork tamale, cornbread, honey, caramelized or dried fruit

Harvest Feast features our annual Baronial competitions for A&S and for Bardic arts.

Youth & Family Activities
There will be a “kid’s corner” indoors, some medieval games, and Youth Armored Combat outdoors.
Two craft options are planned. In consultation with the Suquamish Museum, we will explore beaded necklace making. And we will make corn husk dolls, which are common across cultures in our feasts!
In the afternoon, Youth Armored Combat will be doing the battle of the Pumpkin Patch! War scenarios with an autumn flavor.

New to the SCA? A little bit about what to expect…
You can check in and pay your daily fee at any time the entry Gate is open. Once you’ve checked in at Gate, you will get a site token to pin on your clothing, and you can come and go for the day. People will arrive at different times throughout the day, depending upon their interests and schedule.

For a feast event like this, you should try to come in “garb” (an attempt at pre-1650 clothing). Most of the time, you will be asked to bring all your own eating dishes (a “feast kit”), but this particular event is the exception to the rule. Just bring a drinking mug! You can borrow garb from the Gold Key deputy of the Chatelaine’s office — click the link to email the Chatelaine, Aoife Aileanach .
Dinner is always provided if you pre-registered for a feast, and this feast also includes brunch, lunch , and snack!
Coffee, tea, and water are available throughout the day. If you need specific creamers, water additives, or prefer other drinks, please bring them.
The site does allow the consumption of alcohol, please take your containers home and imbibe responsibly!
Court is the time when our SCA “nobility” give out awards to recognize the hard work and achievements of our populace members. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the show! (And if you know someone that deserves recognition, anyone can make an award recommendation!) Just watch the people around you, stand up when they stand up, cheer when they cheer, and have fun.
Finally, some of our indoor events have outdoor fight practices, space and weather permitting. Everybody can watch, and bring your fighting equipment if you want to participate. There will also be a variety of Arts & Sciences and Bardic activities. Watch, or bring a craft and participate! Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself, let people know you’re new, and ask questions.
People interacting with this event must adhere to the SCA Core values; behave with courtesy, honor, chivalry and respect, even in times of inevitable differences of opinion; and comply with SCA policy and modern law. The SCA prohibits harassment and bullying of all individuals and groups. Hate speech is not tolerated in the Society. Hate speech is speech or symbols that offend, threaten, or insult individuals or groups, based on race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability or other traits.
